The joy of the journey

Fast, quiet, and far away.

Speed

Board in Tokyo in the morning, and by lunchtime you’re in a faraway town. Inside the Shinkansen it is quiet, and even your coffee barely moves.

The view

Rice fields, rivers, small stations. The scenery changes slowly. Doing nothing but watching the window is part of the trip, too.

Somewhere new

Step out of the station into the sounds and smells of a town you don’t know. Stations are usually right in the middle of town, so you can start walking straight away.

Going from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka, sit in seat E, the right-hand window seat. Near Shin-Fuji Station, Mount Fuji fills the window—if the day is clear.
